Click-click here.

I apologize if the issue looks like shit from your computer, if there are images that don't show up, etc.
I haven't a clue what is wrong. I am on a mission to fix this. Now.
The issue looks best when viewed from Foxfire, not IE.
This issue was made on a Mac, if you have a Mac, you're good to go. I hope.

August 20, 2005

alright, so, as it goes, i am going to put together an online issue.
i've been playing with this idea for a month or so now. i am in cali
but i will have some time to play around with this, having no
job, school (lucky)... so i thought why the fuck not, yanno?
why not use my time wisely while here, squeeze in what i love doing best...
so yeah, this means, as of right now, submissions are OPEN!
From today, 8/20 until 9/15/05, i want you to send me some work:
amanda@wordsdance.com -- subject line containing submission.

!IMPORTANT! there's a theme:

compassion

i want your best unpublished work, nothing less and stick to the
theme. take a peek at the guidelines page if you are uncertain
of anything

keep on and take care, your loving editor --
amanda

July 19, 2005

is this for real? has she really updated? my.god - i can’t
believe it!?!

yes, it’s been awhile, i could give you a million excuses –
and guess what, they are good enough. i’ll spare you
of them though.

well – let’s see. i’ve been busy-busy and truly, just plain,
out and out selfish. i’ve moved back into my parents’ house
for the month of july and then in august i’m off to california
for a little while. i’ll be in the san diego area – so if any
of you want to, ummm, i don’t know, meet-up, have a drink,
have a reading, trade some issues/chaps for issues/chaps,
whatever, you know how to get ahold of me, my email address
is strewn about this site.

you can also peek in on my life here: my journal

i’ve decided to go public, recently, with some of my journal entries.
one of the entries has a list as to where you can find my poetry
online, there are also some photographs – me attempting to be a
photographer that is – heh. i’m gonna to try to keep up with the
journal – i have been for years now – so hopefully, it sticks.
sometimes it’s daily drivel - sometimes i post pieces i write
that day – or links to whatever work turns up online. you can
even comment if you'd like-leave your name though - so i know
who's stalking me. heh. ;p

as far as the zine goes – honesty, i wanted to do an online summer
issue – but it doesn’t look like that is happening. right now---
submissions are still closed -
and will be until fall. i am thinking a winter-winter-winter issue –
because basically, i am going to be floating about and lucking it
until fall – not really having a home to call my own – but i think,
feeling -- oh.so. at home, at the same time. ;)

oh and i still have issues and chaps available -- so...
EAT THEM UP! i promise they taste--- oh.so.good.
email me about them - and i can tell you where to send the cash.

take care and keep on people.
the small press is the bee’s mother-f-in’ knees.

psst - i threw a few links up on the links page, check 'em out.
if you gots anymore for me, hit me up, we'll trade.

April 8, 2005

All of the contributors' copies, ordered issues and chaps,
are in the mail, finally. I apologize if there are any
errors - but cut me some slack, it's my first time. ;p
I added some links to the links page - check those out.
All info on ordering the spring issue or my chapbook can
be found on the menu to the left. ORDER THEM!
List of poets and artists can be found in current issue
link. Cover photo for the issue will be taken when I get
around to buying batteries.

Submissions are closed, still, until further notice.
They will be open soon enough though. I'm digging this
print stuff.
Happy fuckin' Spring - it's long overdue!

February 28, 2005

SUBMISSIONS ARE CLOSED FOR THE PRINT ISSUE.

I will only be taking submissions from people who have
already contacted me about sending some in. I promise I
am working on getting back to all of you about your
submissions, poetry and art alike.

Lots of love to everyone who submitted words, art and money.
You all are wonderful.
Seriously.

December 10, 2004

I am now accepting submissions for the Spring Issue – and yes, it will be a print issue, I need to give it a go, wish me luck.

Please R E A D the guidelines page for details – if you have any questions, rants, etc please mail me --- if you fuck it up, it’s not my fault.
I might be emailing some of you requesting work, but don’t hesitate to mail me first.

Oh and if you want, have the time and means -- download:
The Nightcrawlers – African Echo --
an epic song from a local band that I love to see live -- it's an experience, they are wonderful, if you are ever in this neck of the woods -- check them out, you won't be disappointed.

September 29, 2004

I'm hoping that most of our readers that reside in the US are smart enough to vote. This is just a reminder, please vote!

September 22, 2004

Well – Issue #6 is up – enjoy.

I am not accepting submissions yet for the next issue, I will be sending out an email containing news and guidelines, so look for it or check the site every once in awhile.

If you see any mistakes within your pieces, you want to send me love/hate mail, etc: amanda@wordsdance.com

Now go --- read the issue.

June 25, 2004

FALL ISSUE THEME:

The Basic theme will be:

balance, +/- connections

Send me no less than 2 poems, no more than 6.

I want you to balance your submissions.

If you have 2 poems with a negative vibe, send me 2 poems
with a positive vibe, 3 for 3, etcetera, but make sure they
are about a relationship with someone other than yourself,
be it a friend, family member, lover or an acquaintance.
Keep in mind that the positive and negative charged poems
do not have to be about the same person. One more thing, I
know I am a pain in the ass, next to the title of each poem
add a plus or minus (+/-) to make life easier for me :)

I will choose no more or no less than 2 poems.

If you have any questions about this theme,
email me:
amanda@wordsdance.com

POETRY DARE #3 --

Are you up for a challenge? We dare you to...
Take at least 4 of the following words, using any prefix/suffix
that suits, if needed, and use a flower metaphor, write a poem
or a prose piece on whatever you would like to write about.
Prose pieces should be no more than 150 words, poems no more
than 36 lines.

Words:

frenetic
hush
viscous
fresh
paint
velvet
latent
corporate
point
violent
bare
shark

You're not going to pass up a dare are you?
Come on...see what you can come up with, even if it's
complete shit-- we will publish it because it's fun to
see how these words influence each poet...DOOOOOO IT!

May 18, 2004

Alright... So, I figured I would update with a little news.
The issue is coming along great, we have some great work so far, the layout is neat, so I am pleased.
I also updated the links page, check it out.
Heed the theme and send in your best work because you will be beside some of the best.
There will also be a surprise with the next issue... tap-tap-tap.

March 22, 2004

The Spring Issue is online.
Enjoy.

March 2, 2004

Deadline for the Spring Issue is here.

Up until now, WORDs DANCE has been publishing issues without an underlying theme. Our Summer Issue will be a themed issue. Future issues will go back and forth between having a theme and not having a theme.

The theme for the Summer Issue is:

Supreme Extremist

We are looking for poems that might piss off the
authorities. A few topic examples being: politics,
rebellion, the environment, women’s lib, blue-collar,
religion, an alternative philosophy, et cetera, anything
avant-garde. We are looking for liberated pieces of poetry,
be it long, short, prose, whatever. We are seeking poets that
like to spout off in clear-cut imagery, metaphor or confessional
verse while incorporating a subject matter that would earn a haughty
sneer from the average conformist.
We want your realness.

Blissful Writing,
Amanda & Kelsey

January 8, 2004

Thanks to everyone who submitted and also to those whom we solicited to submit! The issue turned out to be a hit, thanks for all your compliments and all that jazzy jazz! It really turned out beautiful, thanks to all of you for your work.

Well...on to other things--

Even though the triteness of Saint Valentine’s Day sometimes makes us retch, we love to love to love soooo--- we are going to host a Special Valentine’s Day Section in the Spring Issue. This section will call together all of your favorite LOVE poems, famous or not, old or new, anything...just so it's not by YOU! This is of course optional but:

Please send in your favorite love poem, along with some of your own poetry or prose, any form, style or subject is acceptable just as long as it is quality work.

We hope all of your Holidays were peaceful.

Amanda & Kelsey

November 15, 2003

We now have an online submissions page!  One month left before reading dates are closed for the Winter issue.  Please submit before December 15th!  Thank you.

WORDs DANCE is a new webzine! We are still trying to get the feel, fall into the groove of where we want this zine to go. Feel free to look around. Become familiar with the work before submitting and e-mail us with any comments or questions.

Thank you,
Amanda Oaks
